Why this deal made the cut
Most of the deepest clearance markdowns we found were already out of stock. This one was still purchasable in multiple sizes when checked, comes from an established commercial-fishing brand and solves a real problem on the water: staying dry while still being able to work.
The $100.02 discount is meaningful, but the jacket is worthwhile only if a non-insulated PVC shell matches your use. For occasional warm-weather showers, a lighter packable rain jacket may be more comfortable. For cold offshore runs, plan on insulating layers underneath.
What the Hauler Jacket is—and is not
A durable waterproof work shell
Double-coated PVC is easy to rinse and better suited to fish slime, spray and repetitive wet work than many breathable fabric shells. Neoprene cuffs help reduce water running down the sleeves when your hands are above your elbows.
Not a flotation device
This jacket provides no flotation. Wear a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket for the conditions and activity. Rain gear can make swimming harder, so do not treat visibility or waterproofing as a safety substitute.
Not insulated
Warmth comes from the layers underneath. Leave enough room for a wicking base layer and insulation without restricting shoulder movement or access to a PFD.
Three fit checks before ordering
- Plan your layers. Measure over the clothing you expect to wear, then compare with the current Grundéns size chart.
- Move like you are on the boat. You should be able to reach overhead, bend, steer and handle dock lines without the hem riding up.
- Check PFD compatibility. Try the jacket with your life jacket or inflatable PFD and confirm that neither interferes with the other.
Who should skip it
- Boaters who mainly need a tiny emergency shell that packs into a console.
- Anyone expecting built-in insulation or flotation.
- People who strongly prefer breathable fabric for high-output activity.
- Buyers whose required size is no longer available at the clearance price.
New boat owners should prioritize legally required and emergency equipment before discretionary foul-weather gear; start with our beginner boat-safety equipment checklist. If rain or darkness changes visibility, review our beginner navigation guide before heading out.
